Marjorie Atte Well is the daughter of an embroiderer of Southampton, a customer of the le Fleming family. When le Fleming's daughter Katherine was to wed, Marjorie sought and gained a place as one of Katherine's women, in hopes of improving her own matrimonial and social chances. Marjorie's fine hand with a needle has gained her repute as an embroideress. |
